Hi, my name is Sara Nation. I am the proud owner of PreSeisTek, Inc., a risk management company for your blasting needs. I want to tell you a little bit about myself, my employees, and how I became the owner of this great company.

I began working at Computer Science Corporation in Oak Brook, Illinois when I was eighteen, which fostered my love for gadgets. Once I became more familiar with computers and gained more on-the-job experience, I sought a higher paying job with benefits and I began working for AT & T in Aurora, Illinois. I did everything from mounting computer tapes to engineering and after gaining priceless experience I joined the team at Avaya Corporation as Program Director in 2000. Avaya is a company that divested from Lucent Technology, and is connected with AT & T.

As a single mother of three young children, I was driven to succeed. These companies believed in me and provided me the opportunity to obtain both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, as an employee benefit. Between 1996 and 2001, there was tremendous human downsizing in technology all over the country. By mid 2000, I was out of a job. I was fortunate to leave having gained a good severance, a stellar education, and a resume that prepared me for my next endeavor.

During 1999 - 2000 PreSeisTek, Inc. was a newly formed company that did Vibration Monitoring, Pre and Post-Blast Surveys, and offered the rental and purchase of seismic equipment. Gordon Revey, owner of PreSeisTek, Inc. and Revey Associates, informed me that his Revey Associates consulting business was booming (no pun intended). An amazing opportunity began to evolve for me.

I researched the market, investigated the blasting industry, and determined there was a great need for someone with my background to be involved in the blasting community. I acquired PreSeisTek, Inc. from Revey Associates in 2000 and due to the continued support of my loyal customers and their referrals my customer base has increased each year.

At the beginning, I did all the administrative work as well as the fieldwork, but it did not take long for business to pick up. With multiple projects running at once, finding reliable contractors became a necessity. Today I have a team of vibration professionals that are ready to work with your blaster while monitoring heavy equipment, blasts, footsteps, and all other work where vibration is an issue. I still do all the documentation of structures while several part-time contractors translate my tapes and prepare the final product for Pre and Post-Blast surveys. Mary Nicoll, my Business Manager Extraordinaire, is my right arm in the office. She is an efficient and organized workhorse as well as young, bright, and beautiful.
